Brazil backs the Brook

Ipswich legend and radio host Alan Brazil has backed our campaign to buy the Brook Inn. Speaking at the recent cricket club summer ball the former international striker said he supported plans to secure the future of the village’s only pub. He said: “I’ve eaten there a few times and it’s excellent food and a great place to stop and have a drink. The amount of pubs closing at the moment through no fault of their own is such a shame. I’d urge everyone in Washbrook and Copdock and beyond to get behind this and give it all their support.”

Community Asset

Moves are under way to register the Brook Inn as an ‘asset of community value’ under the Localism Act. Committee member and parish council chairman Keith Armes is speaking to Babergh District Council about listing the pub which will give it some protection. Essentially it will give us six months to come up with a bid should a developer or other buyer not interested in keeping it as a pub, show interest in buying it.
